Cooperative Housing saves residents money because it is not market priced!

Housing Cooperatives in Hawai'i

Although most of Hawai'i is unfamiliar with the housing cooperative model, we do have examples on O'ahu that have existed since the 1970's.  A few which are still in operation today, and because their costs savings are so great, members have kept quiet about their housing situation and savings as they see the enormous housing costs those around them are paying.

Help us stay on Kaua'i!

We are nurses, teachers, doctors, Safeway workers and Domino's pizza drivers.  We contribute to the local Kaua'i economy and we want to stay!  Our building, Courtyards at Waipouli is for sale and we are trying to find a way to purchase the building so that the County of Kaua'i can keep local workforce and those of us who are contributing to local economy can keep our housing.

Residents started organizing to create the Courtyards at Waipouli Housing Cooperative in the summer of 2023

Along with the County of Kaua'i and other funding partners we will create a Workforce Housing Cooperative!
